The
Third Aegean Summer School is devoted to the dark matter and dark
energy of the
Universe. The main objective of the School is to bring together
Physicists from different fields like Astrophysics, High Energy
Physics, Relativity and Cosmology and in a relaxed and stimulated
atmosphere discuss the new ideas and developments in the search
of dark matter and dark energy. It is also aimed at introducing postgraduate
students and young researchers to this very challenging issue of
Astrophysics and Cosmology.
The
topics which will be covered are: Particle Physics and Dark Matter, Particle Candidates for Dark Matter, Structure Formation and Dark Matter, Dark Energy in the Cosmic Background, Cosmological Perturbations and Dark Energy, Cosmological Models for Dark Energy, Large Scale Structure and Cosmological Parameters, Cosmological Parameters from Galaxy Clusters, Supernovae Observations and Dark Energy, Modified Gravity Theories from Dark Matter and Dark Energy, Dark Energy in String Theory.
The
morning sessions will consist of mainly review talks on major
subjects of the field, while in the afternoon sessions short talks
will be given on current research topics.
Those
graduate and postgraduate students interested in attending the
school are requested to send a short CV and one recommendation

Financial support will be provided for a limited number of accepted
applicants.
The
School is organized by the Physics
Department of the National
Technical University of Athens, and supported by the Physics Department of King's
College, University of London, the Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation, University
of Portsmouth, the Physics and Astronomy Department, University of Tennessee, Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs, Prefecture of Chios, Municipality of Chios.
