Recently gravity theories were proposed which can be considered as extensions of Einstein's theory of gravity. Their main motivation is to explain the latest cosmological and astrophysical data on dark energy and dark matter. Modified theories of gravity were studied at small distances leading to quantum gravity while the study of gravity theories at large distances, among other things, put forward massive gravity, giving a mass to the graviton. Advances in string theory also motivated the study of gravity theories in higher dimensions and higher curvature. While the 6th Aegean Summer School was devoted to the study of modifications of gravity at small distances, this year the 7th Aegean Summer School aims to the discussion of modifications at large distances, introducing postgraduate students and young researchers to this very challenging topic that recently has attracted much interest.

Various aspects of modified gravity will be discussed: High curvature gravity theories, Galileon theories and their cosmological applications, F(R) gravity theories, Scalar-tensor theories, Introduction to massive gravity, New massive gravity, Topologically Massive Gravity, Cosmological applications of massive gravity, Black hole solutions in New Massive Gravity, Introduction to Chern-Simons theories, Chern-Simons modification of general relativity, Holographic Chern-Simons theories, Higher spin gravity theories, Scattering amplitudes in gravity.

The invited speakers include: E. Bergshoeff, C. Charmousis, G. Clement, C. Deffayet, D. Grumiller, C. de Rham, A. Padilla, T. Sotiriou, A. Tolley, P. Townsend, R. Troncoso, S. Tsujikawa, D. Vaman, M. Vasiliev, A. Volovich, J. Zanelli.

The school will take place in Parikia of the Paros island, in the conference room of Pandrossos Hotel. The morning sessions will consist of mainly review talks on major topics of the field, while in the afternoon sessions short talks will be given on current research topics. Those graduate and postgraduate students interested in attending the school are requested to send a short CV and one recommendation letter to the School's Secretary Ms. Maria Kazadei, email: casmary8"AT"gmail.com
