Karfas is located 7 Km south of the town of Chios and is among the most well-known and loveliest beaches of Chios, with a fine sand suitable for beach games and relaxing sunbathing. Being a tourist center, Karfas has many hotels, apartments, studios, restaurants, taverns offering fresh seafood as well as cafes and bars.
The morning and afternoon sessions of the School will take place at the Golden Sand Hotel.
TRAVEL INFORMATION
There are various ways to travel to the island of Chios.

From the Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” you can take the Metro to Piraeus. The trains are leaving the airport every half an hour. It takes 1 hour and the ticket costs 6 Euros.

From the Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” there is a bus service operating 24 hours a day to the port of Piraeus. The busses are leaving the airport every 20 minutes. To reach Pireaus it takes you 1 hour and you can buy the ticket from the bus driver for 3 Euros.

If you prefer a taxi it will cost you 20-25 Euros depending on the traffic.
From Piraeus you can travel by Ferry Boats.
You cannot enter the Boats without a ticket. Buy it from one of the numerous travel agencies in the port.

From the Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” you can travel to Chios by plane.
The city of Karfas can be reached from port of Chios by public bus or by taxi (7 km) while from Chios airport only by taxi (4 Km).

Dear Participants,
For the accommodation of the participants of the School the Erytha Hotel and the Golden Sand Hotel will be used. Both of them are First Class Hotels with very good service. They are in Karfas and very close to each other. The Organizing Committee, taking under consideration the rooms availability and the preferences of the participants made the hotel reservations as they are listed below. Please check the dates of your arrival/departure and inform the Secretary of the School of any changes.
