Open Core Dump

When a process is terminated by certain signals, the operating system creates a core dump file. A core dump file is a snapshot of the memory address space of the process at termination time and can contain data structures to help interpreting the dumped memory regions. With the Open Core Dump dialog box you can select core dump files associated to an executable file and display them in the debugger.

For a list of signals that produce a core dump file, refer to the operating system's documentation.

Executable File

Enter the path of the executable file that created the core dump file into the Executable File field. Alternatively, you can click the Browse button to browse for a file or select a file from the drop-down list. The drop-down list contains the most recently opened files. If an executable file has already been loaded, it is displayed as the default value in this field.

Core File

Select the path of the core dump file associated with the executable file from the Core File drop-down list. Alternatively, click the Browse button to browse for a file. This field is only enabled when you have specified an executable file.
