Scope:
The meeting is to review the state-of-the-art tools for high energy particle physics as well as for astroparticle physics.
It will consist in a series of lectures and seminars that will expose the different modules and ingredients that constitute a Monte-Carlo program. These codes are used to simulate particle collisions like at the LHC and that automate the calculations of cross sections. On the collider front, we will review advances in the automated calculations of Next-to-Leading Order (NLO) multi-leg cross sections, prospects for NNLO, interfaces with parton-shower, hadronisation and studies of jets. For models of new physics, we will cover tools allowing us to incorporate, in an automated way, interactions beyond the Standard Model. The presentations will also cover data analysis.
The astroparticle physics connection will be geared towards tools for searches and constraints on dark matter. In particular, implementations for the calculation of the dark matter relic density, its indirect detection as well as models for the propagation of cosmic rays and the direct detection of dark matter will be presented.
Although the emphasis will be on general purpose tools, a review of dedicated codes such as those which concern the Higgs properties, flavour physics and precision observables will be performed.
A significant part of the event will be devoted to tutorial/ hands-on interactive sessions using some of the codes and Monte-Carlos. |
